# Messages, company and progression

## Customer inquiries

Messages contains locally authored customer conversations with varied responses. No external AI service or API key is required. The customer, scope and property carry into the booked visit; asking questions alone awards no cash or skill XP.

Default inquiry settings in `Config.Inquiries`:

| Setting | Default |
| ----------------- | --------------------------- |
| Enabled | true |
| StartOffDuty | true |
| InitialLeads | 3, subject to eligible work |
| MaxOpen | 5 |
| HistoryLimit | 30 |
| ArrivalMinSeconds | 120 |
| ArrivalMaxSeconds | 300 |

Arrivals depend on available sites, equipment and progression. A full inbox waits for space. Going back on duty schedules a fresh interval; reopening the tablet does not force new arrivals. Finish or cancel active physical work before pausing duty.

## Company and earnings

Company branding, career progress, business cash, equipment ownership and conversations are saved for the current identity. Business cash pays for equipment and upgrades. Lifetime earnings track gross completed-job revenue.

Standalone retains all completed revenue in the business ledger. Framework modes default to a 50% business share and 50% owner payment. See [Frameworks and payments](/baobab-interactive-docs/junk-removal-simulator/frameworks-and-payments.md).

## Career and Salesmanship

Career XP and Salesmanship XP are separate. Completed cleanups award career progress; partial or abandoned jobs do not award completion XP. Work availability also depends on the deployed site's XP requirement and allowed rigs.

Salesmanship defaults to 40 XP per level, levels 1–100, with a perk point every five levels. Perks have their own level requirements. Skill rewards from negotiation and fulfilled extras are banked until completion, with a default per-job cap of 40 XP. Unfulfilled promises do not earn the associated reward.

Default business upgrades:

| Upgrade | Business cash | Career XP | Benefit |
| ---------------------- | ------------: | --------: | -------------------------------------------------- |
| Commercial work gloves | $1,800 | 600 | 25% shorter manual handling |
| Appliance dolly | $4,200 | 2,200 | 35% shorter bulky-item handling |
| Dump-site unload kit | $6,500 | 4,500 | 35% shorter manual unloading and trailer discharge |

These are configurable defaults. Handling bonuses do not speed up trailer hydraulics or the skid-steer bucket.

## Returning clients

**Company → Clients** shows returning customers, reviews, visits and referrals. Work continues to arrive through Messages.

A good visit requires at least four stars, no service deduction and completion of every promised service. After two good visits, a residential client can refer someone else. Referrals have no separate cash or XP multiplier.

The default Harbor Property Services account requires 3,200 career XP, six good residential visits and good visits for at least two different residential clients. Eligible commercial work still needs a compatible deployed property and rig. It pays for completed work, with no passive income.
